Local-First Architecture Your health data is stored locally in your home, not on remote servers. OSCAR works without an internet connection.

Encryption at Rest All personal health information stored by OSCAR is encrypted using AES-256-GCM, the same standard used by financial institutions and healthcare systems.

You Control Access Only authenticated household members can view health data. You decide if and when to share information with family members or care providers.

No Data Sales We do not sell, license, or share your personal health information with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. Ever.

Internet Optional OSCAR's core functionality works entirely offline. Internet connectivity is optional and only used for features you explicitly enable.

What Data OSCAR Collects

OSCAR collects only the information necessary to provide wellness support:

Health measurements from connected devices (blood pressure, weight, pulse oximetry, etc.) that you choose to connect
Resident profiles including names and optional photos for identification
Preferences and settings you configure for personalized guidance
Usage patterns within the home system to improve daily recommendations

OSCAR does not collect audio recordings, video surveillance, or location tracking data. OSCAR is a wellness companion, not a monitoring system.

HIPAA-Aligned Practices

While OSCAR at Home consumer products are not covered entities under HIPAA, we voluntarily adopt HIPAA-aligned practices because we believe your health information deserves the highest level of protection:

Minimum necessary standard: We collect only the data required to provide our services
Access controls: Authentication required for all health data access
Encryption: Protected health information is encrypted both at rest and in transit
Audit logging: Access to health records is logged for accountability
Data integrity: Safeguards prevent unauthorized modification of health records

For OSCAR deployments in clinical or facility settings, full HIPAA compliance is maintained including Business Associate Agreements where required.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Access: View all data OSCAR has stored about you at any time
Export: Download your complete health history in standard formats
Delete: Remove any or all of your data permanently
Restrict: Limit what data is collected or how it is used
Disconnect: Remove any connected device at any time

Since your data is stored locally in your home, these rights are exercised directly through your OSCAR system—no requests to remote servers required.

Data Sharing

OSCAR never shares your personal health information without your explicit consent. If you choose to share:

Family sharing: You can grant specific family members access to view health trends or receive alerts
Care provider sharing: You can export or share reports with your doctor or care team
Emergency contacts: You can configure who receives notifications if concerning patterns are detected

All sharing is opt-in, revocable, and controlled entirely by you.

Children's Privacy

OSCAR is designed for adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If OSCAR is used in a household with children, their health data should only be entered by a parent or guardian who manages their profile.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify users through the OSCAR system and update this page. We will never retroactively reduce your privacy protections without consent.
